Robert Epstein, Founder and Principal of Thrive Mountain Consulting.
Raised in New England, Robert received his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2000 he was appointed an Assistant District Attorney in Eastern North Carolina.
In a two-decade career in private practice as a litigator and mediator, he founded four businesses, a multi-office regional law firm and taught continuing education and paralegal certification courses statewide.
In 2020 he returned to public service in the UNC Office of Legal Counsel and NC Department of Public Safety for his expertise in contracts and liability analysis.
Following those appointments, he was General Counsel for the North Carolina Governor’s Crime Commission, where he managed multi million dollar federal grants and launched community violence intervention initiatives across North Carolina.
He founded Thrive Mountain Consulting to offer strategic legal and policy expertise to public and private entities working for the public good.
Outside his professional passions, Robert provides respite foster care to rescue dogs, enjoys hot yoga and pickleball, and spending time in nature.
